MAX HIRSCH
1997
A legendary racehorse trainer from Fredericksburg, Texas, and based out of Columbia beginning in the 1930s, Hirsch won the Triple Crown in 1946 with Assault. His horses won the Kentucky Derby three times, the Preakness twice and the Belmont four times. He is enshrined in the National Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame.

JOHN SIMPSON
1983
The Chester native won more than 1,500 races and $5 million in purses in harness racing as a trainer-driver (1936-72). He won the Hambletonian twice and the Little Brown Jug three times, and is a member of the Trotters Hall of Fame.

FRANK WHITELEY
1998
The legendary Camden thoroughbred trainer (1936-84) trained all-time great filly Ruffian as well and champions Forego and Damascus, among his 35 stakes winners. The Centreville, Maryland, native is a member of the national Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame.
